Most nursing staff working in a non-institutional health setting e.g., doctor’s surgery, specialist medical centre, pathology laboratory, boarding school, crèche or kindergarten are covered by the Nurses’ Award – State 2005

Further awards

Different awards may apply to employees who:

Work as a nurse or assistant nurse:

• for a private hospital
• with a domiciliary nursing service that accommodate the health needs of patients in their own homes
• for a non-Government public hospital, private hospital, nursing home or retirement hostel or village accommodating the aged or infirm
• in the private sector (non-governmental) employed in the industry of aged care including aged care residential facilities including nursing homes, hostels, retirement villages and aged care respite centres
• in a veterinary practice

Exceptions

Exceptions may apply to nursing staff that perform work in a:

• Government public hospital
• Some employers in the nursing industry may be covered by state certified agreements or a federal award.
