Further awards

Different awards may apply to some cleaners depending on whether they are employed by a cleaning company that operates on a contract or fee for service basis or other type of business, such as:

Work as a cleaner:

• within the business operated by their employer
• in a private hospital or nursing home
• in a South-East Queensland motel, hostel, private hotel, boarding house, serviced room or flats and any other type of residential or tourist accommodation
• in a South-East Queensland hotel or outside South-East Queensland in a hotel, motel or resort
• In a club in South-East Queensland or outside South-East Queensland

Exceptions:

• Some employers in the cleaning and building services industry may be covered by State certified agreements or federal awards.
• In particular many employers involved in contract cleaning are parties to the Building Service Contractors Association of Australia – Queensland Divisions Certified Agreement 2005
