Some employers in the retail industry are covered by federal awards and federal agreements. Major supermarket, grocery, convenience and departments stores, such as Coles-Myer, Woolworths and David Jones are covered by federal agreements.

Further awards

Different awards may apply to employees who:

Work in a:

• florist
• butcher shop
• nursery
• motor vehicle dealership
• garage, petrol service stations, car parks, towing services or used car yards within the South-Eastern District of Queensland and outside South-East Queensland.
• chemist or pharmacy
• hairdressing salon or barber shop
• photographic studio or photo processing lab, mini lab
• state school or independent school tuckshop run by a Parents and Citizens or Parents and Friends or Independent Parent and Friends Association.

Work as a:

• commercial traveller who sells goods and services, at a wholesale price, to wholesale or retail outlets.
• telemarketers or tele-sales for the sale of goods or products (not a service) by retail.

Exceptions:

• No award covers work performed by telemarketers or telemarketers for the sale of a service (not goods) by retail.
• Telephone canvassers may be covered by the Clerical Employees Award - State 2002 if they are 'facilitating' the sale of goods and/or 'facilitating' the sale of a service e.g., arranging a sales visit on behalf of someone else.
