Investigation results
Queensland's industrial inspectorate conducts compliance activities including the investigation of wage complaints and proactive audits of workplaces to ensure compliance with industrial laws and employee entitlements.
Results for the 2008/2009 financial year:
- 2,759 wage complaints were completed with $2,443,746 in wages recovered for employees;
- 102 prosecutions were conducted against 40 employers with $248,269 in wages recovered;
- 7,461 audits were conducted of workplaces regarding industrial and child employment laws with $1,164,476 in wages recovered; and
- 84 infringement notices were issued resulting in $101,100 in fines.
