Employment conditions

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The information outlined below applies to employees and employers who are under State industrial relations jurisdiction. Since the commencement of the federal government's workplace relations laws on 27 March 2006, employers who are constitutional corporations (e.g. a Pty Ltd or Ltd company) and their employees are now covered under federal industrial relations jurisdiction. Leave entitlements
An explanation of the minimum leave entitlements that apply to all Queensland employees (excluding those covered by federal awards or agreements). Leave entitlements include annual leave, sick leave, long service leave, parental leave, carer's leave, bereavement leave, cultural leave and public holidays.

Common award conditions and entitlements
A guide only to common employment conditions found in most awards, such as wages, hours of work, meal breaks and rest pauses, overtime and penalty rates, allowances, leave entitlements and other common award provisions.

Casual employees
An overview of the general entitlements and conditions for casual employees (including information on long service leave, family leave, parental leave, carer's leave, bereavement leave and dismissal).

Young workers
Young workers (aged between 18 and under 25) and children (under 18 years of age) are entitled to the same employment entitlements as an adult, unless an award or agreement provides for specific entitlements for juniors. Apprentices and trainees

Superannuation
Employers in Queensland must comply with provisions relating to award based superannuation and the Commonwealth Government's Superannuation Guarantee Charge.
