Ending employment

Other reason for dismissal
Common categories of termination that may end an employer and employee relationship, such as dismissal, constructive dismissal, summary dismissal, resignation, misconduct, fixed term contract, redundancy, voluntary redundancy, frustration of contract and absenteeism.

Redundancy
Redundancy occurs when an employer decides that the job an employee has been doing is no longer needed. Includes provisions, procedures and severance pay entitlements.

Workplace changes
Where an employer decides to introduce changes in production, program, organisation, structure or technology, that are likely to have significant effects on employees in the workplace. Also covers termination, notice and redundancy issues.

Continuity of service
Breaks in service and the effect of such breaks on the accrual of entitlements under the Industrial Relations Act 1999 or under an award or agreement.

Transfer of calling
An employee may transfer from a former employer to a new employer, for example, as a result of the sale of a business. Defines what is a 'transfer of calling' and the employee entitlements that are transferable and continue to accrue with the new employer.
