Terms and Conditions


The Industrial Relations Information Services provides this research database service to you subject to the following conditions.  By making application to subscribe to our IRIS site, you accept these conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Definitions

"Access Conditions" means these written conditions of access to the IRIS Site.

"Access Fee" means the fee payable to the Department for access to the IRIS Site.

"Department" means the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations on behalf of the State of Queensland.

"IRIS Site" means the Industrial Relations Information System database site, accessed via the Internet.

"Password" means your unique password which is needed to gain access to the IRIS site and any updated password you obtain from time to time.

"You" means the IRIS Site client, whether a corporation, unincorporated association or individual.

2. Access Fee

By making this application you agree to pay the Access Fee if your application is accepted.

Your Access Fee gives you password access to the IRIS Site for a period of 12 months from the date payment is received.

You must pay the Access Fee in advance.

The amount of the Access Fee is determined by the Department and may vary without notice.

3. Obtaining Password

Your user name and password will be provided to you by the IRIS Administrator. Your password gives you access to the IRIS Site for a period of 12 months.

You must keep confidential the password you use to subscribe to the IRIS Site.  You remain responsible for any use of the IRIS Site made using your password.  The Department will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your client details which we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date.

You can access and amend some of the client details (such as your personal details and password) that we hold about you by securely logging in to our IRIS Site.

You must accept a change of password (without additional cost to you) on any occasions that the Department requests, to ensure security of access.

4. Accuracy

Whilst every effort is made to maintain a quality Database, the Department does not represent that the data on IRIS is error free or accurate. By obtaining access to the IRIS Site, you accept the risk of reliance upon the information contained on it. The Department disclaims all liability for the correctness or accuracy of the information on the IRIS Site.

5. Limitation of Liability

Except to the extent that liability cannot be excluded, the Department will not be liable to you for anything (including negligence) to do with the IRIS Site. For example but without limitation, the Department is not liable for inaccurate information, access or transmission difficulties or computer viruses.

6. Indemnity

You indemnify the State of Queensland against absolutely all claims, actions, demands and proceedings against the State of Queensland by anyone who claims loss or damage arising out of your access to the IRIS Site.

7. Equipment

You must provide the equipment you need to enable you to access the IRIS Site.

8. Property Rights

You acknowledge that the IRIS Site provides access to a database of valuable commercial information compiled by the Department and that all intellectual property rights (including copyright) in the database remain with the Department.

You do not acquire any property rights over the material extracted from the Database.

9. Use of the IRIS Site

You agree that you will use the IRIS Site for information only.

You must not use the IRIS Site to provide reproduction of material to any other person for commercial purposes or use material from the Site to construct your own database for commercial exploitation.

10. Waiver

These Access Conditions will not be taken to be waived except by written notice signed by an authorised representative of the Department.

11. Inconsistency

These Access Conditions prevail over any other representations about the IRIS Site or access to the IRIS Site, to the extent that there is an inconsistency.

12. Governing Law

These Access Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Queensland.
